When you lose mobility in your thoracic spine that can lead to a number of aches and pains in the body.
Some of the most common ones:
- neck pain
- shoulder pain
- lower back pain
- hip pain
Do you see on the above image how the body is built to have one stable block followed by a mobile block?
The thoracic spine is supposed to be mobile and when it loses mobility (aka gets stiff from postural habits and lack of movement), another part of your body will pick up the slack. And that other part is usually one that’s supposed to be stable. When a stable part starts moving, that’s bad news.
But don’t worry, I’ve got a great exercise for you to help free up the thoracic spine.
