Have you been told to stretch your hip flexors but you feel like you’re not getting anywhere? They’re not getting any looser and you have this nagging, uncomfortable tightness at the top of your thighs and the front of your hips?
Do you want to know the reason your hip flexors are not getting any looser?
The hip flexors are involved in some of the major fascial chains, as you can see on the image below.
The Psoas and the adductors are part of the Deep Front Line and the Rectus Femoris is part of the Superficial Front Line. The muscles of the fascial lines connect to each other as if they were cars of a train. Dysfunction anywhere in the fascial lines can make the hip flexors work overtime and create excessive tightness in the muscles.
For example if your Abdominal muscles are weak, your hip flexors will pick up the slack. Therefore, no matter how much you stretch them, they will not stop being tight, until you fix the weakness (dysfunction) in your abdominal muscles!
