I wasn’t planning on writing a newsletter about hand, wrist and elbow pain, but yesterday I received 2 requests from clients, both complaining of wrist and hand pain, decreased grip strength and forearm pain radiating up towards the elbows and shoulders.
These symptoms usually present themselves due to overuse of the hands and wrists.
How does that happen?
For example too much gripping (walking cane, road bike, free weights, etc), typing on the computer keyboard, repetitive movements like cutting and stying hair, painting, playing certain instruments, etc.
While some of these causes don’t apply to many people, long hours of daily computer usage, video games, electric device use certainly hits close to home for many of you.
I would like to mention, I don’t believe in laser focusing on just the pain area. If you suffer from any of these conditions, I recommend addressing the shoulders and the neck as well, as your symptoms could be referred pain and your injury could be caused by weakness, faulty movement habits and misalignments of those structures higher up in the kinetic chain.
