You can see that the model has a normal arch on one side and a flattened arch on the other side. The flattened arch causes the Tibia to rotate inwards, which causes the knee and the hip to follow and rotate inwards as well.
The main anatomical function of the IT Band is to slow down medial displacement of the knees (when the knees move towards each other, aka knock knees)
