You know by now that forward head position aggravates your neck and creates imbalance in your neck musculature, aka, some of your neck muscles chronically shorten, while other chronically lengthen.
But what about a rotational posture?
Being stuck in a rotated position can really shorten your neck muscles on one side and lengthen them on the other.
If you’re not sure, whether or not your head is rotated, take a look at some of your photos. You might notice that your head is a bit tilted to the side or your chin is not centered but it’s closer to either one of the collar bones.
If you have a rotational posture, you most likely have a preferred side, which over time will severely limit your rotation to the opposite side.
How does rotational posture form? We don’t have to dig deep for possible causes. Reading in bed and holding the book on one side, always sitting in the same chair or some spot on the sofa while watching tv (if the screen is not directly in front of you) or staring at your computer for half of the day, guarantees, you develop neck pain on the long run.
In order to make sure you don’t end up with a stiff, lopsided neck, make sure to position yourself, so your neck and your eyes are always in line with what you’re looking at!
Because I can help you eliminate your chronic pain!
