Did you know that some joints/regions of your body require more mobility and some joints require more stability?
If the joints that are supposed to be mobile are not mobile, then the joints that are supposed to be stable are forced to be more mobile (this puts you in danger for pain and injury)
A big cause of chronic back/neck pain is the failure to organize, stabilize, and control the spine during movement. Since the spine houses the spinal cord (our central nervous system), it is extremely important that you’re able to control movement here.
Being able to stabilize through the lumbar spine and just move at the hips is key for things like running, walking, deadlifting, etc.
Being able to control the spine and make sure it isn’t moving when you don’t want it moving is key. On the other hand, being able to move it under control when you do want to move it is vital important as well.
You can see on the image above, what it’s like when the spine is not controlled. A lumbar spine that is not organized, will result in lumbar lordosis. Same thing is true for the thoracic spine and the neck, hence thoracic kyphosis and forward head posture.
