I get it. You’re in pain and all you can think about is getting relief. Which means you’re popping a pill when you’re hurting. You get temporary relief, but once the effect of the pill wears off, you find yourself in pain again. There’s a lot of information out there about the harmful effects of opioids but you’re in too much pain and you don’t know what else to do….Does it sound familiar?
The first step in eliminating pain is understanding it.
Pain is a signal, similar to an engine light in our car.
Pain itself doesn’t tell you what is wrong, just like an engine light doesn’t tell you what is wrong.
Pain tells us, that something needs to be addressed. Something is causing harm to our body. It is a call for CHANGE, a signal that tells us we need to address something. We need to look into it and figure out what’s wrong, so it can be addressed and fixed.
When it comes to PAIN, we often want to get rid of it ASAP. Simply covering pain up is like putting a piece of tape over the engine light so you can’t see it anymore.
Ignoring the engine light is like ignoring our pain or just working through it. This is simply ignoring the signal and letting things potentially get worse.
The ROOT CAUSE of any form of pain must be assessed and then addressed so that your body can move smoothly over time.
