The Sacroiliac joint is where the sacrum and pelvis meet. Pain in this joint can manifest in low back, hip or down the leg pain. This pain often gets worse with sitting, standing or exercising, causing more injury to the joint.
The SIJ is a very stable joint, that experiences very little movement because of its anatomical configuration, as well as the strong ligaments and muscles that surround it.
These muscles include the Erector Spine, Glutes, Hamstrings, Obliques, Quadratus Lumborum, Piriformis and the Psoas.

A great exercise to strengthen some of the muscles surrounding the SI Joint is the Plank.
I want you to watch my video and learn how to do the Plank properly. It’s important that you establish good form, because a sagging, weak Plank is completely counterproductive and will hurt your back.
